Activities
We renovated a three classroom block of Bumuluya Primary School in Bukonde Sub-County, Mbale District a Moslem founded government school.
The commissioning was graced by a number of dignitaries from the district, parents and the school management committee.
Speech from the head teacher
The head teacher is new in the school and was very happy to have got a blessing through Platinum Credit that changed the face of the school. He noted that the school had lost a number of pupils and the population had dropped from 1083 children to less than 700 pupils because of the poor condition of the classrooms. After renovation of the block, parents brought back their children and the number is increasing again and at the moment the school has 793 pupils due to those who came back after the renovation.
He noted that the block was in a very bad condition since 1999 and was constructed through the initiative of parents. He thanked the DEO for choosing his school among others. This being a Moslem government founded school, the head teacher informed us that there is an imbalanced development in Moslem schools compared to other religious sects and thanked PCL for not focusing on religion.
There was an attempt to resist the offer of renovation having heard rumors that the district would not consider the school for the proposed construction of a four classroom block since the school had only one block that was in a good condition. This was clarified by the Chief Administrative Officer who gave the school a go ahead and noted that PCL work was an added advantage to the school hence commencement of the work. He concluded by thanking Platinum Credit and pledged full support to us through choosing PCL as the only place for borrowing and encouraged his teachers and the general public not to look elsewhere.
We also had various speeches from Politicians at district and sub county level who thanked PCL for the offer and encouraged us to continue with the good work and more support to the school.
Tree Planting
Having commissioned the renovated block, we also planted 50 trees in the school due to space. Our target was to plant 100 trees, these were allocated to various pupils who will be responsible. This was done in the implementation of CSR project through tree planting for environmental protection.
